Haiti - Education : Towards a strengthening of the agricultural technical high schools programs 30/10/2023 10:18:32 Forty technicians from the educational departments of Nippes, South, Grand'Anse and public universities in these three departments participated in the activity. To help participants in this workshop better understand the new direction that the Ministry is beginning to give to education in the country, Minister Nesmy Manigat made a presentation on the orientation framework for school programs. According to him, it is a document which has brought together for several years a series of reflections to try to answer a fundamental question "How can schools meet the needs of the country ?" Minister Manigat explained that the School Orientation Framework Program aims to establish a school that should contribute to solving Haiti's problems. One of these major problems concerns food sovereignty. It is with the aim of encouraging more young people to get involved in the country's agricultural development, and in connection with education reform, that the Ministry has started the creation of the agricultural techniques high school. According to one of the prescriptions of the Curriculum Orientation Framework, the school's mission is to prepare students to become agents of change in Haiti. Secondly, the general coordinator of teaching and quality presented the technical characteristics and orientation of the new high school while emphasizing the series of Science and technology for rural development which includes two sections : agricultural section and livestock section. It is in this sense that Joseph Job Maurice developed the detailed program of this series which promotes the strengthening of the economic, ecological, social and cultural role of agricultural activities in the life of Haiti. At the end of this workshop, the Minister put forward some ideas so that the public universities of Nippes, South and Grand'Anse as well as the three teaching directions of these departments think about a way, with departmental civil society, to be able to guarantee the development of agricultural technical high schools.
