Update with Air Caraïbes

The Embassy of Haiti in France had an important working meeting on August 22, 2024, with Christine Ourmières-Widener, President and CEO of the airline Air Caraïbes. The discussions focused in particular on the operation of the Paris/Port-au-Prince air link, the need to promote and market Haitian products on board Air Caraïbes flights, as well as the grievances expressed by the Haitian community in France against this airline.

Pastor Jérémy Lemec dies

On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Pastor Jérémy Lemec, Director of the Haitian Adventist Media Center, which includes "Radio Voix de l’Espérance" and "Hope Media Haiti", died at the age of 54 at the Adventist Hospital in Diquini, following a stroke.

Haiti requests the files of sanctioned persons

On Tuesday, August 27, Mr. Carlos Hercule, Minister of Justice, announced that he had written on behalf of the Government to the ambassadors of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Dominican Republic, asking them to transfer to Haiti the list of sanctioned persons as well as the charges and evidence on which these sanctions are based. Minister Hercule said, "Some countries have been imposing sanctions for quite some time. We believe that this issue must be addressed by the Government in order to examine what the regime of these sanctions is and their scope, so that the necessary measures can be taken at the national level." Prime Minister Garry Conille brought together the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Public Works and Agriculture to follow up on the files relating to the Government's tour in the North and North-East departments last week.
