Haiti - Politic : Jean Evens Charles returns to the head of APN

On Monday, September 22, 2025, Alfred Fils Metellus, Minister of Economy and Finance, proceeded during a ceremony to the installation of Jean Evens Charles as the new Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), a position he previously held for over eight years in 2004. He replaces Jocelin Villier, who served as Director General of the APN for two years.

This appointment marks a turning point in the management of the strategic institution responsible for supervising and regulating the country's ports.

In his speech, Minister Metellus reiterated the importance of the APN in economic recovery and foreign trade. "The proper functioning of our ports is a major challenge for the country's competitiveness. We are counting on the dynamism and rigor of the new Director General to modernize the institution and strengthen transparency in its management."

Jean Evens Charles committed to implementing far-reaching reforms : "[...] My priority will be to work on modernizing our port infrastructure, improving the quality of services provided to users, and ensuring better internal governance. The APN must become a driver of development serving the nation [...]"

The inauguration ceremony was marked by expressions of collaboration and encouragement from the institution's employees and partners. All emphasized the need for effective management and a clear vision to address the challenges related to maritime security, the flow of trade, and regional competitiveness. The arrival of Jean Evens Charles opens a new chapter in the history of the APN, which is expected to play a key role in the country's economic recovery.
