New massacre, at least 20 dead

Around twenty people were reportedly killed and several others seriously injured last Friday in the towns of Morne à Chandelle, Asenba Colin, and Gressier, during an attack perpetrated by the "103 Zombi" gang. The victims' bodies were reportedly burned, according to available information.

Haitian writer Kettly Mars confirms her influence on the international literary scene. Her novel, "Je ne te trouverai pas deux fois dans ce même corps" (I Will Not Find You Twice in This Same Body), is a finalist for the Caribbean and Americas Literature Prize. The results will be announced on November 28, 2026, at the closing ceremony of the Écritures des Amériques festival in Guadeloupe.

TPS : Federal Judge Ana C. Reyes to Rule

On Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, Federal Judge Ana C. Reyes officially received the United States Supreme Court's decision regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) granted to Haitian nationals. The information was confirmed by the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. The judge must now publish a final decision consistent with that adopted by the highest court in the United States.

4 Baccalaureate Examiners Kidnapped

The National Association of Independent Teachers of Haiti (ANNIH) denounces, in a statement, the kidnapping of four teachers that occurred on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, in Lacroix-Périsse, while they were traveling to Gonaïves to grade baccalaureate exam papers. The identified victims are Jean Philippe Alix, Ronald, Petit-Phar Exechiel, and Judner Jean Marie. ANNIH demands their immediate release and expresses its solidarity with their families. The association calls on society to unite against this scourge that threatens public safety.

The adopted electoral decree is an obstacle to the rule of law

According to the National Association of Haitian Jurists for the Advancement of Rights (ANAJHAD), the electoral decree adopted by the Council of Ministers represents an obstacle to the rule of law in Haiti. It believes that it is not within the Executive branch's purview to draft an electoral decree or to amend the Constitution by referendum.
