Mexico : 2 Haitian girls found dead

Two Haitian girls died in a reception center managed by the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) in the state of Oaxaca (Southern Mexico). According to prosecutor Yarib Hernández García, the two girls were accompanied by their mother and were temporarily staying at the home. She confirmed that their lifeless bodies were found in a septic tank after their disappearance. An investigation was opened to establish the facts. Furthermore, the Director of the Center and the General Coordinator of the DIF reception centers in the State of Oaxaca were dismissed from their positions and handed over to the competent authorities.

Spain : Reorganization of the Consular Service

The Embassy of Haiti in Spain informs the Haitian community that a process of regularization and reorganization of the Consular Service is currently underway. This approach aims to harmonize procedures with the Chancellery's directives, to strengthen the administrative compliance of the documents issued and to improve the quality of the services offered. During this update period, some deadlines may be slightly adjusted.

School continuity in a crisis context

As part of the AvniNou project, the Ministry of National Education organized training in Port-au-Prince and Hinche on school continuity in a crisis context. Funded by the French Development Agency and implemented by Expertise France, this project mobilized 18 educational supervisors, 57 school directors and 155 teachers from 55 public schools in order to strengthen educational practices adapted to emergency situations.

New cycle of the Travel Monitoring Matrix

The Government of Haiti, in collaboration with the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is supporting a new cycle of the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in order to update available information on people displaced by violence across the country. Through this tool, IOM teams collect essential data that informs decision-making, improves humanitarian assistance and supports the development of durable solutions.
