The civil aviation sector in Haiti has reached a decisive stage 04/04/2026 09:15:47
On Friday, April 3rd, 2026, engineer Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, Transportation, and Communications (TPTC), accompanied by Hantz Célestin, Director General of the National Civil Aviation Office (OFNAC), welcomed a group of 10 new employees who had just completed an intensive seven-month training program, from September 2025 to March 2026, at the prestigious National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC) in Toulouse (Southwest France). During this training, these technicians acquired advanced skills in areas vital to the safety of Haitian airspace, such as air traffic control and aeronautical information management. This initiative is part of the broader Caribbean Regional Air Transport Connectivity Project (CATCOP), financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Beyond strengthening human capital, this ambitious program also includes upgrading the infrastructure of Toussaint Louverture International Airport, including a new control tower and a modern building dedicated to air navigation. During the welcoming ceremony, the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications (TPTC) and the Director General of the National Civil Aviation Office (OFNAC) warmly congratulated the recipients for their determination. The integration of these new technicians is seen as a strong signal of the State's commitment to rigorously aligning with international air safety and navigation standards. HL/ HaitiLibre
