Former Deputy Geffrard Étienne Killed

On the night of April 3-4, 2026, former deputy Geffrard Étienne was stabbed to death during clashes between two rara groups in the 2nd communal section of Abricots, in Grand'Anse province. Several other people were injured, and a suspect was arrested by the police.

Parents' Strike Announced

The Haitian Parents' Association (ASPAEDH) has announced a one-day strike for Monday, April 13, to protest the government's and certain sectors' decision to increase fuel prices in the country.

CARIFTA 2026 Swimming, Gold and Silver for Haiti

Haitian swimmer Christian Jerome (17 years old) won the gold medal in the 100m butterfly. He finished with a time of 55.23 seconds. 65 Municipal Sports Agents Certified:

On Monday, April 6, 2026, as part of the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, 65 municipal sports agents from nine municipalities received their certificates, following a training program held from March 30 to April 1, 2026, dedicated to using sport as a tool for violence prevention, human rights promotion, and strengthening social cohesion. Table Tennis : 5 Haitians in Competition

The Haitian national table tennis (ping-pong) team is participating in the qualifying tournament for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from April 6 to 9, 2026. The Haitian delegation consists of five players: Donika St-Fleur, Olivier Guerrier, Brayon Azor, Mackentoche Paul, and Sophie Gilles. They are accompanied by China Étienne, head of delegation, Rafael Montero, coach, and Ralph Kernizan, President of the Haitian Table Tennis Federation (FHTT).

Two more friendly matches for our senior Grenadiers ? According to available information, as part of their preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup (June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada), our senior Grenadiers are expected to play two more friendly matches on June 2 and 6. The Haitian Football Federation has not yet confirmed or revealed the names of the opponents.
