Thérèse) Haiti Wins the House of ChallengeCompetition The Ministry of Tourism extends its sincerest and patriotic congratulations to Miss Ariana Lafond (19 years old), A student of International Relations and Diplomacy at the Center for Diplomatic and International Studies (CEDI), Ariana Lafond was the grand prize winner on Saturday, April 11, 2026, of the 8th edition of the House of Challenge competition in Lomé, Togo (West Africa). This pan-African competition focused on content creation and entrepreneurship, where she brilliantly represented Haiti, proudly upholding the national colors with honor, dignity, and excellence. "This remarkable distinction is a source of pride for the entire nation [...] Through her exceptional journey, her eloquence, her charisma, and the noble message of unity she conveyed during this competition, Ariana Lafond has established herself as one of the inspiring faces of an ambitious generation, a beacon of hope for the country’s future." BRANA : Microfinance Program for Women Merchants The National Brewery (BRANA) has officially launched its Microfinance Program for Haitian women merchants, particularly the Madan Sara, in three departments of the country : the West, the South, and Artibonite. This is a key step in strengthening this program, which BRANA launched in 2023. Alongside Solidarite Tout Fanm se Fanm (SOTOFF), Rasanbleman Nasyonal Madan Sara Peyizan (RANAMSAP), and the Platform of Haitian Women's Organizations for Development (POFHAD), approximately 160 women will have access to financing tailored to their specific needs, strengthening their economic independence and growing their businesses. Condolences from the Ministry of Tourism The Ministry of Tourism learned with great dismay of the terrible tragedy that occurred on Saturday, April 11, in Milot at the Citadelle Laferrière site https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47277-flash-terrible-tragedy-30-dead-at-the-citadelle-laferriere.html. The Ministry extends its sincerest condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of the victims who, in these times of sorrow, are grieving this tragedy. PNH : Clearing of Streets Continues The Haitian National Police (PNH) is continuing Operation "Cleaning" in several neighborhoods of downtown Port-au-Prince to drive out terrorist groups so that the population can move about freely and activities can resume normally. Specialized units have already succeeded in clearing several major thoroughfares in downtown Port-au-Prince, including: Nicolas Street, Capois Street, Cameau Street, Monseigneur Guilloux Street, La Fleur du Chêne Street, Waag Street, Roy Street up to Marcelin Street; Paco Street (from 3rd Street to 7th Street); and Turgeau Street (Christophe Avenue, North Avenue, as well as M and O Streets). This work allows armored vehicles to conduct patrols more easily, thus helping law enforcement maintain a stronger presence and a faster response capability.
