Haiti - Electoral Chair : PM attends the closing ceremony of the International Conference

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Karibe Hotel, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé participated in the closing ceremony of the First International Conference of the Electoral Chair at the State University of Haiti (UEH), themed "Ensuring Success in the 2026 Elections in Haiti : Expectations and Opportunities" (https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-47635-zapping-haiti-of-may-29-2026.html), co-chaired by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

This conference, held from May 28 to 30, brought together Jacques Desrosiers, President of the CEP, Uder Antoine, its Executive Director, electoral advisors, technical and financial partners, representatives of the UEH, professors, researchers, students, and members of civil society.

In his address, Desrosier welcomed the strong mobilization of academics, researchers, and civil society actors around discussions on the future of democracy and the electoral process in Haiti. He also emphasized the need to guarantee a secure environment conducive to holding elections and protecting electoral infrastructure.

During his speech, the Prime Minister stressed that organizing elections was a crucial step in the national reconstruction process. He commended the commitment of civil society members and their active participation in the discussions. He also reaffirmed his administration's priorities : restoring security, revitalizing the economy, and organizing transparent, fair, and credible elections. "To refuse to commit is to let others decide for us" he stated.
