Haiti - Tourism : Michaëlle Jean and the Heritage Protection 30/11/2012 10:57:20
Michaëlle Jean, UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, on mission in Haiti from November 27 to December 4, visited of tourism projects in the Historic Center of Jacmel at the head of a delegation of eminent personalities Canadian including the Mayor of Quebec, Mr. Regis Lebeaume and the internationally renowned Canadian architect, Moshe Safdie. Thursday, the Canadian delegation led by Michaëlle Jean, attended an important working session to the Fokal around a mobilization the safeguarding of the vernacular architectural heritage of Haiti, embodied by the Gingerbread of Port-au-Prince. "The Ministry of Tourism has a key role to play in the strategy that deploys to Haiti at this time. That is to say, to make of sustainable tourism, an important lever to building a sustainable economy," declared the UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, at the end of the working session adding ""Heritage, Culture, Tourism : all that goes together to create labels, in the Haitian offer to customers that we want to bring [...]" See also : HL/ HaitiLibre
