Haiti - Social : Tribute of the presidential couple + Speech of President

The President Michel Martelly and the First Lady, Mrs. Sophia Martelly, pay tribute to the hundreds of thousands of disappeared of 12 January 2010.

"On this day of third anniversary of this tragedy, the presidential couple remembers and has a special thought for all victims.

January 12, 2010 changed the lives of all Haitians. Three years later, Haiti recovering and continues to forge a place in the world and to strengthen its relations with the international community.

The President and the First Lady take advantage of this time of reflection and remembrance, to renew their commitment to the Haitian people to always work to the recovery of Haiti and its economic stability."

This Saturday at 8:00 am, at the National Palace as part of the commemoration of the third anniversary of the 12 January 2010, the President Martelly, will deliver his message for the occasion, in the presence of state officials and representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and Consular.

Update 10h00 a.m. :

In his speech, the President Martelly announced that the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communication has released the National Building Code of Haiti, insisting on the compliance with this code, regardless people and the type of construction, and that a similar will be ready for public buildings, in April.

The President also declared "[...] I want to express my regret and deplore that the mausoleum in memory of our disappeared, as not yet been erected to Saint-Christophe, I want to tell you, that I will personally invest [of himself], so that the symbolism of the place soon found its expression..." in the wake announcing the launch of a competition for this purpose.

This afternoon, the President will visit Saint-Christophe to make a floral offering.
