Haiti - Social : Inauguration of the memorial of Renewal

Friday, January 11, 2013, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the Deputy of the second constituency of Port-au-Prince, Mr. Jean René Lochard, and Ms Marie Joseph René of the Municipal Administration, proceeded officially, at the inauguration of the Memorial of Renewal, in Carrefour-Feuilles. Erected in the town of St-Gérard, this monument is a tribute to the victims of the 12 January 2010 earthquake.

After the bugle call, a moment of silence was observed. The vicar of the parish of St-Gérard, Pierre Marie Franck, after the blessing of the place, invited the public to make this memorial, a place of meditation and prayer.

At the initiative of the Office of the Deputy Lochard, the construction of this memorial was made possible thanks to the support of the Presidency of the Republic. The Parliamentary took this opportunity to extend, on behalf of the people of Carrefour-Feuilles, his thanks to President Martelly.

The Head of State, presented his sympathies to the family, friends and relatives of the victims. On the eve of the commemoration of the day of January 12, the President invited the public to build differently and to participate fully in the reconstruction of the country and declared "Our future depends on us. Haiti needs the support of all to rebuild its environment. The government is already committed to provide all necessary assistance to the organized forces of the country, who want to get involved in the struggle for the survival of the Haitian Nation."
