Haiti - Sports : Official launch of the 2015-2016 school games

Wednesday at the room Thérèse of the Hotel le Plaza, in the presence of several presidents of sports federations, dozens of school principals, Jimmy Albert, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has officially launched the 2015-2016 school games, before explaining with conviction that sport helps develop concentration, solidarity, respect, and competitive spirit it is the best way to fight against youth violence.

In their words for the circumstances, Ernst Jean Baptiste, Deputy Director General of MJSAC and Dr. Yves Jean-Bart, the president of the Haitian Football Federation, spoke of the importance and scope of school competitions and recall the role that played the school championships in the participation of Haiti in its first football World Cup in 1974. Dr. Yves Jean-Bart, also advised the organizers of the games, to perform at least one test medical for participants, in order to avoid unfortunate incidents.

In the West department, the 2015-2016 school games will allow about 15,000 boys and girls to compete in seven disciplines: Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics, Karate, Chess and Checkers. Will be mobilized 160 monitors and 200 young people will receive training of judges and referees.

The opening ceremony of the Games will take place on November 20 and will be followed by a pre-season between 1st and December 31st. The start of competition throughout the national territory, is fixed to 15 January, 2016.
