Saturday morning around 10:00 am a fire broke out in a clandestine fuel depot not far from the Thor terminal in Carrefour, the second largest storage site for petroleum products in Haiti after that of Varreux.

Arriving quickly on the scene, the police from the Carrefour Omega police station and the town's firefighters managed to quickly control the fire but were unable to prevent the explosion of another storage facility too close to the disaster, which caused panic among the residents.

The provisional human toll is heavy, 1 dead and about twenty people burned, some of them seriously. Note that three firefighters were burned, one of them seriously. The victims were rushed to hospitals in Drouillard and Adventist Hospital in Diquini (Carrefour).

Many vehicles parked near this warehouse were destroyed by fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
