Haiti - FLASH : Terrible accident in Canapé vert, 10 dead and several injured

Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in the afternoon, a terrible traffic accident in Canapé-Vert in the commune of Port-au-Prince made more than 20 victims (provisional report).

At the origin of this accident, a truck of the Ministry of Public Works according to witnesses, whose brakes would have failed near the sub police station of Canapé-vert, who violently struck a minibus with its passengers, struck 3 other vehicles, mowing down motorcycle taxis, merchants and pedestrians before overturning.

The provisional toll is heavy, at least 10 dead [confirmed by the Prime Minister] and many injured, some seriously according to Civil Protection.

Reacting to this tragedy, Acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry said "I am deeply shocked and saddened after hearing the news of the accident that left 10 dead and several injured at Morne du Canapé-Vert. I offer my condolences to the families of the victims of this new tragedy, while renewing my full solidarity with them."
