Haiti - FLASH Ukraine : Update on our compatriots

The Consulate General of Haiti in Paris informs us that the assistance mission for Haitian students in Eastern Europe went well https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-36134-haiti-ukraine-a-haitian-delegation-in-warsaw-to-help-our-compatriots-in-conflict-zones.html

"We met Haitian students in Warsaw and other compatriots living and working in the Polish capital. They agreed to help students in difficulty in Russian territory. Several WhatsApp groups have been created to facilitate exchanges between Haitian students in Eastern Europe.

[...] Several of them who are still in Russia have obtained our help. Economic sanctions prevent students from receiving financial aid from their relatives and friends.

[...] In Ukraine, Haitian students who had taken refuge in Slovakia in the early days of the war were able to be evacuated to Prague (Czech Republic). Others will be in the next few days.

[...] Problems encountered during the movement of a group of 14 students from Moscow are being resolved."

In addition, 9 Haitian students (Arielle Charles, Baïyna Bernard, Bonnet Othniel, Carlène Edmond, Charlyne Latice, Marie Blandine Joseph, Peterson Vilbert, Sénatus Wood Marc and Widjinie Joseph) were evacuated by train from Belgorode, a border town with Ukraine bound for Moscow, far from the combat zones. The Consulate covered the travel expenses of the students.
