Haiti - Politic : High-level American visit to Haiti

First Deputy National Security Advisor Jonathan Finer, along with a high-level delegation from the Department of State, Department of Defense, U.S. Agency for International Development, and the National Security Council, traveled to Haiti this week to meet with senior Haitian officials and the leadership of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMSS) and the Haitian National Police (PNH) to advance security and governance efforts.

In his meeting with MMSS and PNH officials, Finer emphasized the continued U.S. commitment to rally international support and provide the tools needed to restore security and the rule of law in Haiti. The United States is by far the largest contributor to date in ensuring the Mission has the resources it needs.

In further meetings with members of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and Prime Minister Garry Conille, Finer offered condolences for the victims of the Pont-Sondé massacre https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-43385-haiti-flash-the-partial-death-toll-from-the-pont-sonde-massacre-now-stands-at-115.html and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Haitian efforts to restore security and prepare for free elections. In addition, Finer noted that all Haitian leaders must continue to put their country before their party, and keep their promise to work on behalf of all Haitians.
