Haiti - Politic : Leslie Voltaire asks ALBA for food and security aid

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, as part of the 20th anniversary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), Leslie Voltaire, the President pro tempore of the Transitional Council, in a short video broadcastrd during the Summit, asked for help in providing security and food assistance to the Haitian population, affected by "hunger" and gang violence.

"We call on the brothers of ALBA to help us in terms of security and also food aid, because 6 million Haitians are now suffering from hunger at this Christmas time."

"ALBA already has precise instructions to advance as much as possible in its support for Haiti," said President Nicolás Maduro, host of the Summit after the broadcast of Voltaire's video.

Let's recall that ALBA, composed of Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia and Nicaragua, as well as Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada and Saint Lucia, had already called on its members last April for "effective cooperation" to find solutions to the crisis in Haiti.
