Haiti - NOTICE : Blackouts

The Directorate General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH) informs that within the framework of the rehabilitation of the sub-station Toussaint Brave undertaken last year as well as the maintenance work, which began in October 2012 to the central Varreux, that the residents of the Avenue Christophe, Turgeau, Pacot, Street Mrg.Guilloux, Street of the Réunion, Avenue Charles Summer, the National Palace, the General Hospital, the Police Station of Port-au-Prince, the Office of Immigration, the Ministry of Justice, the Base CIMO, the Champ de Mars and its surroundings, they will be without electricity on Saturday 26 January 2013, from 8:00 am to noon.

The EDH also informs residents located in La Saline, Sonapi, Cité Soleil, Bel Air, Route Nationale # 1 Butte Boyer, Petite Place Cazeau, Cité Militaire, Boulevard October 15, Pernier and Torcelle, that they will be deprived of electricity on the same day between 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

These cuts are planned as part of the rehabilitation to the sub-station Toussaint Brave whose current capacity of 20 MVA, will increase to 30 MVA, which will allow to better meet the needs of the population and the maintenance work of the central Varreux will facilitate a more efficient supply of the surrounding population.

This work is part of the Plan of Action 2012-2013 of the EDH, which makes of the rehabilitation, modernization and maintenance of circuits, substations and power plants its priority.
