Haiti - Health : Inauguration of the Hospital of Fort St-Michel

The rehabilitation and expansion work of the public hospital of Fort St Michel have been inaugurated this week. 5 new room have been built with a block to accommodate the TB clinic, a part of the pediatric and a conference room. The block of Community Health has also been rehabilitated as well as the space hosting interns.

According to Dr. Raymond Guilaine, the Director General of the Ministry of Public Health, "these works fall within the scope of the health policy of the Government. The two main objectives of the ministry are to improve the quality of health care and strengthen partnerships with the private sector."

These works, carried out by the local organization "Konbit santé", have been funded to the tune of $100,000 by the MIinustah, through its rapid impact projects (QIPs).

Opened in 2007, the hospital of Fort St-Michel has a maternity, a surgery room, a department of pediatrics and of services of community health care. This hospital located east entrance of Cap-Haitien, serves a population of approximately 60,000 people.
