The President Michel Martelly, learned with great sadness the assassination Tuesday, Feb. 26, of Joseph Ivens André, member of the Presidential Security Unit.

"Agent II, of the 15th promotion of the National Police of Haiti, Joseph Ivens André had always fulfilled his duties with professionalism. His sudden disappearance deprives the country of one of its most worthy son.

In this painful circumstance, the President of the Republic presents his sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Ivens."

The Head of State has asked the judicial authorities to carry out an investigation to find and punish according to the law, the authors of this act, reiterating his firm determination to work for the establishment of a secure environment in the country.
