Haiti - Politic : Prime Minister's visit in Canapé-Vert

Wednesday, as part of project of urban renewal, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by Klaus Eberwein, the Director General of Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES), and Lucien Francoeur, General Secretary of the Prime Minister, paid a surprise visit in the neighborhood of Canapé-Vert.

According to the Head of the Government, his decision to go door-to-door in the neighborhood, falls within the willingness of the Administration Martelly-Lamothe to learn about the needs of the population in order to find concrete and sustainable solutions.

The Prime Minister, who spoke with the citizens, has announced the forthcoming repair of 500 houses, the construction of a public square with giant screens andthe development of a sanitary block to enhance hygiene measures designed to combat effectively waterborne disease.

He also promised to perform other projects in the zone, including the installation of a popular canteen, the realization of social programs in favor of the most disadvantaged and the integration of children in difficult situations in the Universal Schooling Program Free and Mandatory (PSUGO).

The Prime Minister of Lamothe insisted on the efforts made by his Government to improve the living conditions of the population by running social projects for the most vulnerable. Among others, he recalled the neighborhood renovation projects of Jalousie (Petion-Ville), the implementation of 95 community projects in different regions of the country and the continuation of the installation program of solar streetlights in precarious neighborhoods.

At the end of his visit, Laurent Lamothe has sought the collaboration of all the population in order to combat extreme poverty in Haiti. "The President Martelly and myself will not be able to solve all the problems, we need the support of all Haitians."

The Prime Minister Lmaothe, that had very positive exchanges with the inhabitants of Canapé-Vert, took the opportunity to make the distribution of hundreds of phones with the support of the company Natcom.
