Haiti - Music : Jazz Concert «Follow Jah» - Paul Austerlitz

Sunday, April 6, at 4:00 pm (Free Entry) at Headquarters of Follow Jah, #54 impasse Rivière - Street Chavannes extended (Berthé), Pétion-ville will take place a concert featuring, musicians of the walking band Follow Jah of Petion-ville and American jazz saxophonist Paul Austerlitz.

Saxophonist and ethnomusicologist, Paul Austerlitz combines his research work on Afro-Caribbean music and his work of creator as a jazz musician. He has collaborated with musicians such as Doc Cheatham, Julius Hemphill, Dave Murray, Don Byron et le groupe haïtien Foula.

Created in February 2001, the walking bank "Follow Jah" evolves Petion-ville, on the occasion of Carnival and other traditional festivals and community. Since 2010, in collaboration with Caracoli it diversifies its activities. It has thus participated in July 2010, in the education program by the arts, organized by Tamise and UNICEFfor the promotion of hygiene in the camps. It carried out ​​a tour of six musicians selected from the eighteen members of the walking band. In 2012, "Follow Jah" was chosen to host the 6th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Port-au-Prince and the Opening Parade of theater Quatre Chemins. Finally, in December 2012, six musicians of the band participated in the festival Africolor (Paris - France).
