Two days after the resignation of Marie-Carmelle Jean-Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance, the Government Martelly-Lamothe loses a second woman Minister with the resignation Thursday of Régine Godfrey, Minister of Communication [installed on 24 January 2013]

In her letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, Régine Godfrey explains that "In an environment of continuous conflict and interference harmful to the institution, I fought the adversity internally and externally to define a clear vision, set clear goals and straighten the administration for the sole purpose of creating a cohesion and harmony in the dissemination of the governmental action [...] given the clear overlap of actions and adversity to create this cohesion in the promotion of the governmental action, I am unable to perform my duty with rigor, honor and integrity".

Resignation letter of Régine Godfrey :

Mr. Prime Minister,

My career in the sector was for me the opportunity to serve my country and put at the service of the Haitian State professional the professional capacities that I have accumulated at a high price in the private sector, and the mastery of the field that I acquired after many years of work in Haiti. Having had the opportunity to manage an institution received in a state of disrepair and re-established in its entirety in a short time, was done in a spirit of self-sacrifice, showing of difficult sacrifices personal and professional.

This same sense of belonging to the Haitian cause, to my patriotism acute and to my ardent desire to participate in the recovery institutional, to the change of the governmental image and the full success of the team, led me to accept the position of Minister of Communication. With the legacy of a young institution in its constitution but old in its turmoil, its controversies and his quest for identity, I was able during the last three months to remediate the finance of a institution with almost no budget, looted of the minimum of resources available, a multiplicity of employees without functions and without qualificationwhich of themselves tempted to misrepresent the mission of Ministry. In an environment of continuous conflict and interference harmful to the institution, I fought the adversity internally and externally to define a clear vision, set clear goals and straighten the administration for the sole purpose of creating a cohesion and harmony in the dissemination of the governmental action. Without any intention to infringe on the appropriation and interests of others, I led a relentless fight to show the validity of my approaches, the necessity to cease the duplicates and the Ministry's ability to fully accomplish a mission whose impact would be felt well beyond my time of service.

With the satisfaction of seeing that from the plea practiced with my colleagues to give the Ministry of Communications the opportunity to fulfill its mission, a new breath of communicative dynamism is installed and the enthusiasm of all to communicate is palpable, I believe in spite of everything to have accomplished a humble mission, in the short time I was allocated. But, given the clear overlap of actions and adversity to create this cohesion in the promotion of the governmental action, I am unable to perform my duty with rigor, honor and integrity, I find myself compelled to submit my resignation, effective immediately.

Having always been at the service of my people and my country, I renew my ongoing collaboration and take this opportunity to present you Mr. Prime Minister my patriotic greetings."
