Haiti - Politic : The name «Hugo Chavez International Airport» divides...

Remember that Wednesday, April 17, the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe intervening at "Roxbury Community College" before the Haitian community in Boston, announced that the airport of Cap Haitien will be named "Hugo Chavez International Airport" in recognition of the late President of Venezuela. A decision hailed by some and criticized by others.

Kelly Bastien one of the opponents, strongly protested against this name, describing the decision of the Government, of disrespectful to our national heroes "The fact to baptized the Cap Haitien International Airport : Airport Hugo Chavez could let believe that no Haitian has marked the history of our country..."

Saul Gauthier, Co-leader of the Initiative Citoyenne (IC), greets on his side, the government's decision as an important act of recognition, stating that the $30 million that will cost the the works of expansion and modernization of the Cap-Haitien airport, coming from Petrocaribe funds are not a gift from Venezuela, but a loan to repay at very preferential terms, as all funds drawn from the Petrocaribe funds. Remember that Haiti in this context owes $938 million to Venezuela...

Recall that the Bureau of Monetization plays the role of intermediary between the provider Venezuelan PDVSA Petroleo SA and the local oil companies in Haiti. The nomination of volumes and ship, billing and collections are made through the Office of Monetization. Oil companies in Haiti, are paying the State 100% of the FOB value of the cargo. According to the price of a barrel on the international market, the Haitian Government transfer 40% to 70% of the amounts collected, to the PDVSA Petroleo SA. The remaining, 60% to 30% must be paid by Haiti, over 25 years to an annual interest rate of 1% after a grace period of 2 years.
