On Saturday, the President Michel Martelly, commemorated in Arcahaie, the 210 years of creation of the Haitian flag, symbol of the sovereignty of the first independent black republic in the world.

The Head of State believes indeed that give meaning to May 18, is working to put Haiti in its original trajectory of Free State where the Haitian can live in master and sovereignly decide of its future. The President of the Republic also believes that it is necessary to act to transform the traditional State in a State of service that invested in education, agricultural recovery, infrastructure, health care, security, rehabilitation of our environment and reconstruction.

The President Martelly took advantage of the Flag Day, to inaugurate a modern public market in Arcahaie. An initiative highlighted by the Mayor of Arcahaie, Jean Yvon Nestor, who mentioned different work carried out in this town over the past two years.

In addition to this market in the heart of the city of the flag, accompanied among other by Charles Jean Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, the Head of State has proceeded to the inauguration of a community restaurant in Arcahaie. Now, 500 people will have access to a balanced meal every day from Monday to Friday, with a contribution of 10 gourdes per dish.
